Annual Diocesan Women's Retreat Coming this January!

Inspired by the teaching of

St. Hildegard of Bingen

Canonized a saint in 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI, Hildegard had mystical experiences throughout her life whose brilliance and accuracy made it clear that they came from God.  She called them "Reflection of the Living Light," and is known for having the courage to stop hiding her light and let it shine!

"Anyone paying attention to recent trends within catechetical programming is sure to have noticed that video-based resources are becoming more and more prevalent.  This is true for both adult and youth catechesis ..."

Annual Food Drive has Record-Breaking Donation!

Saint Therese Parish in Shavertown recently held a food drive in support of the Back Mountain Food Pantry.  The parish conducts this drive every summer when the pantry experiences high demand due to schools being on break.

This year, the church broke its record by donating 2,608 pounds of food!  Pictured above are members of the Saint Therese's Social Concerns and Community Outreach Committee during the drop off at the Back Mountain Food Pantry (from left to right are Gary Williams, Kathy Gelso, Nita Williams, and Mary Dunlap).

Youth Rally Diócesis de Scranton

The Diocesan Pastoral Planning Team (DPPT), in collaboration with the Office of Hispanic Ministry, continues to serve with gratitude and dedication in advancing our mission.

We are proud of all we have accomplished together to strengthen Hispanic Ministry across our diocese.

On July 19th, DPPT members gathered at the Diocesan Pastoral Center to plan this year’s Hispanic Heritage Mass & Celebration, held in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15.

This year’s diocesan theme, “Celebrating Our Faith in the Jubilee of Hope,” invites us to come together in joyful witness to our faith, our culture, and the vibrant contributions of the Hispanic community in the life of the Church.
