September 7, 2025 Canonization

Pier Giorgio Frassati

During this Jubilee Year of Hope, Pope Leo XIV will formally declare Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati (1901-1925) a saint. He will be canonized on September 7th along with another young Blessed, Carlo Acutis.

One of Frassati’s most well-known quotes is “Verso l’alto,” or “To the heights.” This simple phrase reflects his lifelong pursuit of spiritual and personal growth, always seeking a deeper relationship with God.  He adopted it as his personal motto, frequently inscribing it on photos from his mountain climbs – a powerful symbol of his desire to reach greater spiritual heights.

Frassati is a dynamic model of holiness for contemporary youth. He demonstrates that sanctity isn't about withdrawal from the world, but engaging it with courage, joy, and Gospel values.

Learn more about Frassati in the articles below.

Teaching Like Jesus:

Using Parable to Explain the Faith

“Since the beginning of time, God has been writing a story in the world. It’s why the events of Sacred Scripture are called ‘the story of salvation history.’

Beyond the pages of the canon, we see God’s story written in the lives of the saints. Whether they were on the world stage or tucked away in a home or cloister, an encounter with the life of a saint is an encounter with an authored story ..."

Saint Boniface Celebrates 50th Anniversary

of Rededication of the Church

August 3rd marked the 50th anniversary of the rededication of Saint Boniface Church following the devastating 1972 fire in the nearly century-old church.  The fire erupted in the basement boiler room, consumed the interior, causing the ceiling to collapse and reducing the historic structure to charred remains.

The community rallied to build the new church just three years after the fire, coinciding with the parish's planned centennial, the rebuilt church was dedicated on August 3, 1975.

The parish's enduring spirit and deep roots in Williamsport are a touching reminder of faith renewed and community strengthened.

The rededication stands as a powerful symbol of unity, faith and perseverance in the face of loss.
